Michigan has approved several ignition interlock providers.
Michigan has authorized installers for Ignition Interlock Devices (IID), also called in car breathalyzers. The list of ignition interlock device producers and providers below have all been approved to install IIDs in Michigan. Contact information is also provided. These approved car breathalyzer installers can be contacted to find an installation center near you.
The responsibility for Ignition Interlock installation and the costs of installation, maintenance, and calibration belongs to the person required to have the device in order to regain driving privileges. Interlock installation and maintenance costs may be reduced for people who meet certain financial guidelines. To drive with a restricted driver license a convicted habitual drunk driver must have an ignition interlock installed on their vehicle for the first year of the license restriction and must submit proof of installation to a local branch of the Michigan Secretary of State’s Office.
