Ignition Interlock Providers

Connecticut Approved Ignition Interlock Device Vendors

Connecticut has approved four ignition interlock companies to provide installation, maintenance, and calibration services to eligible ignition interlock device program participants. The program allows participants to have an ignition interlock device (IID), or in-car breathalyzer, to be installed on their vehicles in order to regain driving privileges. An IID must be installed on every vehicle the program participant owns or operates.

The ignition interlock is an alcohol breath test that determines whether a threshold limit of blood alcohol content (BAC) is exceeded and if it is the device will not allow the vehicle to start.

Participants must use one of the approved ignition interlock vendor companies to provide the breathalyzer device and to install, maintain, and calibrate the system. The costs of the device are paid to the installing company and the prices of the ignition interlock system are determined by that vendor. For more information contact the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles. The Department can be reached at 1-860-263-5720.
